Trending...

Currently I'm noticing some MAJOR summer trends, such as everything lace, bright pops of color with neutrals, and of course ombre is still looking amazing on everything from nails to dresses to the chevron pattern on my newly covered chairs.

I'm loving:

Vintage

Let's start off our week with a few lovely photos. I've been inspired lately by vintage things, might be from visiting my great grandmother last week in her pre 1950's home with built -in kitchen.

New Trend [Magnetic]

New trend alert- Magnetic Nail Polish

Now, I loved when the crackle came out, but it left my nails feeling thick and goopy with so much polish on them- I'm a one coat girl. But now with the magnetic polish you brush on one coat (the nail polish has iron flakes in it), turn the cap over (it has the magnet in it) and create designs in the polish as the magnets attract to the iron in the polish. No goopy nails, and a unique pattern guaranteed. I can't wait to pick some up and try it myself!

LNC has a similar product in 3 shades but you need to buy the magnet separate, upwards of $20. Nails inc. has around 8 different shades and the magnet comes with the polish in the cap. Still a little on the spendy side for polish at around $10 but a fun alternative to flat.

Girl Crush

I adore Rachel Mcadams style. I feel like it's effortless but classy and she always looks put together. It also helps that she is in a few favorite movies as well. Young, fresh, and comfortable.

Currently loving this nude dress, need to find something like this for the hotter months of Oregon.

Pop of Color

I love a good pop of color, and anyone who has been to my apartment can attest to the fact that most of my things are neutrals: dark wood, grays, browns, greens, tans. So I love it when neutral rooms get some color interest to them. Here are a few favorites:

Pop of Red. Pop of color doesn't have to be in your face, they can still go with the warm tones of the room or even blend a little with the wood. The purpose is to enliven an otherwise dull space with some visual stimulation.

Pop of Yellow. Yellow and gray are my current favorite colors together. It feels very posh while remaining comfortable and beautiful. Color can also help delineate areas if you find yourself stuck with a large space that serves multiple purposes.

Pop of Green. Green represents growth and newness. I love this green door and can imagine coming home to it. The dove gray/white/dark brown/green color palette is a beautiful example of highlighting architecture and character of a home.

Pop of Blue. When I generally think of pops of color I don't think of it being most of the room, but this interior proves me wrong. I love the blue/orange/while/tan color palette and that blue is making the room pop. While the other colors are only supporting they bring the room together and make the blue less visually heavy in the room.

Pop of Purple. This is a great example of a pop of color- it's unexpected and still visually stimulating. Again, play up the rooms features, and if you don't like them- create them. The wood floor is white washed and painted with a light gray to look like a fancier tile and the ceiling is painted to give the illusion of a tray ceiling and height instead of a flat, boring canvas so many neglect.

Any favorite pops of color in your life? The best way to decide your style palette is to go into your closet and see what neutral color you have the most of, then look at your brighter pieces as well as jewelry to pull your secondary colors and your pops. Adorn your home like you would your body- with things you love!

Last week

So the last week I'm attempting to walk 10,000 steps a day. So far I've walked a lot more but not exactly right on target every day. Not sure what the next goal will be- maybe going from walking to running. What I have been craving is new running shorts. These would do nicely:

Nike's womens tempo running shorts.

Still Nike, still cute.

Wow- obviously in love with Nike running shorts

This weeks playlist has one of my favorite themes:

Week 4 - Boybands
1. Sadie Hawkins Dance - Relient K
2. The First Single - The Format
3. Here it Goes Again - OK Go
4. One Week - Barenaked Ladies
5. Welcome to Paradise - Green Day
6. Into the Airwaves - Jack's Mannequin
7. Tell Me Baby - Red Hot Chili Peppers
8. Oceans Avenu - Yellow Card
9. Kryptonight - 3 Doors Down
10. Creatures - 311

XOXO.

Retro Swimwear

I am loving this summer's return to 1950's style one-piece swimsuits. They are sexy as well as tasteful, some of them remind me of a time when pin-up girls had curves. All I can say is I want one as well as a large sun hat and some white sunglasses.

From Kohl's - $44.00

Cottage Love

I found a style crush. She salvages furniture and makes it french chic, is turning her regular home into a cottage, and is adorably southern and down to earth.

PerfectlyImperfect is a find and now bookmarked for when I plan on updating some furniture pieces this year.
