I love a good pop of color, and anyone who has been to my apartment can attest to the fact that most of my things are neutrals: dark wood, grays, browns, greens, tans. So I love it when neutral rooms get some color interest to them. Here are a few favorites:
Pop of Red. Pop of color doesn't have to be in your face, they can still go with the warm tones of the room or even blend a little with the wood. The purpose is to enliven an otherwise dull space with some visual stimulation.
Pop of Yellow. Yellow and gray are my current favorite colors together. It feels very posh while remaining comfortable and beautiful. Color can also help delineate areas if you find yourself stuck with a large space that serves multiple purposes.
Pop of Green. Green represents growth and newness. I love this green door and can imagine coming home to it. The dove gray/white/dark brown/green color palette is a beautiful example of highlighting architecture and character of a home.
Pop of Blue. When I generally think of pops of color I don't think of it being most of the room, but this interior proves me wrong. I love the blue/orange/while/tan color palette and that blue is making the room pop. While the other colors are only supporting they bring the room together and make the blue less visually heavy in the room.
Pop of Purple. This is a great example of a pop of color- it's unexpected and still visually stimulating. Again, play up the rooms features, and if you don't like them- create them. The wood floor is white washed and painted with a light gray to look like a fancier tile and the ceiling is painted to give the illusion of a tray ceiling and height instead of a flat, boring canvas so many neglect.
Any favorite pops of color in your life? The best way to decide your style palette is to go into your closet and see what neutral color you have the most of, then look at your brighter pieces as well as jewelry to pull your secondary colors and your pops. Adorn your home like you would your body- with things you love!
XOXO.
