Brunch

I love having brunch with the girls, especially when the food is good and the design is better! Check out Mother's Bistro and Bar. Great food, amazing space, an hour wait most Sundays but worth it. If you haven't been, set aside a Sunday and go for a walk downtown on the waterfront while waiting for your table.

It looks like a little French shop from the outside.

Let's Stay Here

Last night the girls and I went out for post dinner coffee and dessert at the cutest little hotel called deLuxe. It's in downtown portland on 15th and Morrison and it is reminiscent of the 1920's with jazz music and moldings to drool over. A perfect place for cocktails on girls night out or a luxurious stay-cation in portland with the BF.
The bar is fun and feels close to Mad Men-esque. I need to be in a Jackie-O dress with gorgeous heels and a cigar to hang out in this bar. It's moody and dark with beautiful wood paneling and artful lighting to set the mood.

The lounge is perfect for lazy sunday brunches, sipping coffee in the afternoon or catching up over dessert. It also has the most amazing authentic molding that alternates from crisp white to gold giving it a creamy and luxurious look. Also, the booths are the most stylish and comfortable, perfect for a romantic dinner or quality time with the newspaper. Did I mention that there are chandeliers and mirrors everywhere? The light and feeling in the space is just that of old HollyWood.

Can I live here please?

Pafford Design

I have a design crush on Daniel Pafford. His rooms are bright, inviting, and look undesigned and more lived in and personal. What do you think?

He could design my apartment!

K9 Nosework

Pip is taking a new class called K9 Nosework. It teaches dogs to use their incredible noses to pick out different scents and find targets in a large space (I'm hoping to train her to find my keys!). Police dogs are trained to find narcotics or bombs, Pip will learn to sniff out different types of bark first (willow, maple, alder, etc.). It's going to be a fun challenge and hopefully make her tired after a long day of work.

Just another part of service dog training.

Brent Croomer

Is a wood artist that makes amazing furniture. I love being able to take part of the outdoors and use it when furnishing a room. It makes a room feel cozy and can go with any decor. Here are a few of my favorite pieces I would love to bring into my space.

This dining table would be so much fun to seat my entire family around for Thanksgiving- and it would fit all of them!

A beautiful side table that I would want to put nothing on.

I love it in this modern space, it warms and makes it feel more homey.

Wooden lamp shades? Yes please.

Go ahead, throw in an unexpected element into your space. It's fun.

TDI

Pip passed her Therapy Dog evaluation today! Which means I have a ton of paper work to fill out, but we're one step closer to working with the CCA and visiting kids with cancer and brightening some amazing kid's days.

McMenamins Roadhouse and Imbrie Hall

Last night we celebrated a good friends birthday at McMenamins Roadhouse. The outdoor seating was lovely and the seasonal ale was tasty. A good way to celebrate a birthday!

Delicious beer, good company, and their marion berry cobbler isn't too bad either.

Pat's Happy Place

Back on the scene with the Portland Brew Tour! Last night I said goodbye to a colleague and good friend as he leaves us to get married this summer and move to the midwest. We went out to his favorite bar last night, Amnesia, sat outside in the glorious weather, drank beer, and hung out with 50 other portlanders. Amnesia is a great little place on Mississippi that serves sausage, beer, and true Portland atmosphere. Their best, in my opinion, is their Desolation IPA.

Why yes, that is only $4 for a pint.

Four silver spoons out of five for its great beer, cheep prices, location, and available outdoor seating that is dog and baby friendly.

Adios Amigo.

Anthropologie Loves

So Anthro is having a sale, and I found this cute skirt that I love (unfortunately on sale for $50- ouch) and an even cuter top (not on sale- double ouch). Currently in love with this outfit though, anyone want to buy it for me?

Style Crush [Emma]

I simply adore Emma Watson's style. No matter what she puts on it works, seems timeless and chic at the same time, and makes me want it. I was sad when I heard news of her declining starting her own line of clothing because I know it would have had some brilliant staples and fun accessories. Darn. Until then I'll just have to try and find pieces that I like that are Emma-esque.

Wish I Was...

Here! It's wednesday again and the beautiful weather is making me wish I was closer to an outdoor flower or farmers market for some fresh produce and something to brighten up my apartment.

Preferably in France...

Or Florence

Portland Brewery Tour

So I adore Portland Breweries and a friend and I have toured our fair share. I thought I would share a few of my favorites along with what I had and wether I would recommend it or not! So get excited.

First:

Breakside Brewery

Went here yesterday for our Senior Staff going away party (I love working with others who love Portland brews too!). It's cute and quirky and beautifully portland. Service is great, amazing outdoor seating, and the menu has variety- for beer and food. I had the IPA (surprise, surprise) and the mac and cheese with spicy sausage. It was GREAT with a beautiful hint of pepper, a little spicy, and they used shell pasts to hold even more cheese! YUM!

The only downside is the kitchen is small and we had a large party. I would worry if it was busy that food could take a while. Appetizers and beer were quick though, so as long as you're not in a rush it's a great spot to enjoy the outdoors and a beer.

Happy Beering!

Snow Leopard

So my mac got it's way overdue operating system update! I can't say it's faster, but it definitely took forever to do and now has some newer versions of what I have been using. Excited to be playing around with it this week!

Weekend Adventures

So this weekend was chalk full of amazing fun. First on Saturday Pip and I attended the doggie dash in downtown Portland. It supports local humane societies and there are tons of fun activities and free goodies for both humans and dogs. Pip's favorite beside riding the max (one day only a year- so much fun!) was the frisbee exhibition. They have three different events, the 5k run, 2.5 mile walk, and 1.5 mile walk around portland. The saturday market was also going on at the same time, so Waterfront was full of fun distractions for Pip to work around.

Then I headed over to Paul's for some homemade pizza and Abyss beer that he's been saving for such a night- delish!

Also, while watching Man vs. Food Portland edition, a friend and I discovered a delicious little breakfast spot off of 24th and Quinby that serves LARGE portions and AMAZING food. I would give it four spoons out of five. The Stepping Stone Cafe is about as Portland as you can get with a hipster vibe, a menu to make a foodie drool, and a soundtrack to dance too while eating through their famous mancakes. All in all a delicious weekend.

I think we're going back some time next week where I will be sure to post pictures of the plate sized pancakes.

Until the next adventure.

Charming

I absolutely LOVE this adorable kitty! It's worth 5 minutes of your life to watch the talents of this cat.

Friday Find

So I've been in the market for a beautiful jewelry holder. These few have caught my eye because they could also double as wall art:

This little Etsy shop is SO CUTE. I love all the work she does herself, very clever.

This entire website is darling. I want to purchase everything from it and stock my room with pretty, vintagy things!

I love that this could easily be turned into either a jewelry holder or photo display.

Now the question, to hang jewelry or jackets?

Simple and shabby chic. Love it!

Is it sad that I want at least 3 or 4 of these?

If you visit my apartment in a few months it might be covered in all of these gems!

Wish I Was Here...

Wednesday! I love this idea from my friend Shannon @ Simply Shannon so here it goes, I wish I was here! I miss Corvallis, home of my Alma Mater, farmers markets, friends, bicycle rides, hikes, and Paul's and my apartment from senior year the Stratford Burrow.

Until Then.
